CINCINNATI - University of Cincinnati volleyball head coach Molly Alvey announced five new members to the 2022 class during the November signing period.
" It's always an exciting time of year, every year when November rolls around," Coach Alvey said. "It's fun. The excitement part, it's like that official stamp. Like, 'Okay, now I'm officially a Bearcat.' We are all so very happy and excited about the level of athletes that we are bringing in the character of the people that we're bringing in. We just have a really good group of young athletes that are coming to be Bearcats, so we're proud of them."
Carly Glindining? is a six foot two outside that we've seen over the last two years. We've seen her game change and grow, and we feel like her ceiling is limitless right now. She's going to have some huge opportunities here. Avery Tatum? comes to us playing a multitude of positions. She started as a middle, shifted over to the right side and had to step up in a unique situation with her high school to play on the outside a little play. She absolutely hammers the ball and has tremendous ball control, so we're excited about Avery as well. We have Alyssa Alcantara? joining us, former player at the University of Colorado and now coming to us via junior college route Florida Southwestern State?. Alyssa is the same type of athlete as I mentioned with Avery. She can play both on the outside or right side, so I think that versatility that we see in some of the athletes that we have coming in is such a huge asset on the team. You both know and understand the game from a different perspective, but when in trouble, you have the ability to be flexible and to be able to respond out of it. Paige Pickering? is coming to us out of Illinois and is just an all-around tremendous athlete, another outside that has tremendous ball control and a huge passion for UC, she's been a Bearcat fan. We're just excited to have her energy and I think her physicality in our gym. Caroline Indres? joins us from right down the street, a setter from Saint Ursula and Tri-State Elite volleyball club here in town. I think what makes Caroline? special is that she is a student of the game. She loves watching film, she loves spending her time analyzing film, analyzing the game, and understanding it. From that quarterback position, that's what you need that person or that role doing. As a collective whole, I can definitely speak for myself, the staff, and even our players who have had many opportunities to spend time with our incoming class, we are proud of our new Bearcats.
