CINCINNATI -- University of Cincinnati defender Ashley Barron has earned CoSIDA Academic All-District accolades for her performances on and off the field.

Barron, who last week claimed her second-straight AAC Defensive Player of the Year award, holds a 3.97 GPA in Sport Administration. Barron's First-Team All-AAC accolade is her third, joining only Paulette Angilecchia (1994-96 in Great Midwest, Conference USA) in that elite company. The junior from Toledo, who also notched her first two assists on the year, was also named to the MAC Hermann Watch List, given annually to the National Player of the Year. Cincinnati allowed just 169 shots this season, its fewest since 2014.

Barron is the first Bearcat recognized by CoSIDA since Vanessa Gilles, Jayde Brown and Jordan Cotleur in 2017. Should Barron get voted as an Academic All-American, she would be the third in program history, joining Gilles (2017) and Christy Hoffman (2001).
