CINCINNATI, OHIO - Senior guard David DeJulius scored a season-high 21 points, leading UC to an 89-66 win over Alabama A&M.

The win improved the Bearcats' record to 3-0 on the season, its first time since 2017-2018.

"As I told the guys in the locker room, winning is winning, and it matters, and we're always going to appreciate it and enjoy it, so I'm proud of us finding a way to win," head coach Wes Miller said. "I didn't think we played our best basketball tonight, I thought we looked out of sorts at times. I didn't think we were consistent with our defensive energy and our approach at times. We can play better; we're going to get back to work and try to play better and we have a big one in here in forty-eight hours against a really good Presbyterian team."

Despite going into halftime up 37-32, the Bearcats made sure to stretch the lead out early in the second half by using a 27-6 run in the first 10 minutes after halftime to take control of the game.

Sophomore guard Mike Saunders Jr. sparked a 13-0 run that made the score 52-36. DeJulius scored nine points during a two-minute stretch to put the Bearcats ahead by 20, 62-42, with 11:23 left.

UC was efficient from the field and from beyond the arc, making 47.5 percent of their shots total and 39.3% from three-point range. The former was a season-best for the Bearcats.

The Bearcats made 11 three-pointers on the night, which is a season-high for the team. DeJulius hit three threes and junior guard Davenport hit four more to lead the Bearcats.

This game marked DeJulius' second 20-point game as a Bearcat. Davenport had a season-high 12 points. The 89 points were a season-high for the team, eclipsing the 73 it put up in its win against Georgia. Junior forward Ody Oguama was 5 of 6 from the field with 13 points and eight rebounds off the bench. Saunders Jr. had a season-high 12 points on 3-of-4 shooting. DeJulius and Davenport dominated early on for UC, scoring its first 11 points of the game.
