// WHERE WE LEFT OFF
Sandusky and Leather last raced at the NCAA Regional Championship meet, where they qualified for Saturday's championship.

Sandusky placed 6th at the meet, earning the 1st individual qualifier spot for the Great Lakes Region in 30:01.1 in the Men's Championship 10k.  Leather placed 14th, tying the highest finish at the Regional Championship meet in UC history.  With her 45-second PR of 20:14.1 in the Women's Championship 6k She earned an at-large qualifying spot for the championship meet.

The UC team competed at the Apalachee Regional Park course earlier this year at the FSU Invite.  Leather and Sandusky were able to test the course out against many of the same competitors that will be racing at the NCAA Championship Meet.  Sandusky finished 42nd in the Men's Garnet 8k and Leather finished 4th in the Women's open 6k.  Leather will be running the same 6k course as the FSU Invite, while Sandusky will be running a 10k rather than an 8k at the championship meet.

Sandusky made his Cross Country National Championship debut this past February, in the 2020 Championship meet.  He placed 69th in 31:11.6.

// WHAT TO EXPECT
Each race's participants include 31 teams of 7 runners and 38 individual runners.  Sandusky will be starting the race in box 41 and Leather will be starting the race in box 4.

The top 15 athletes in each race will be recognized as All-NCAA performers.  The top 40 will be recognized as All-American performers by USTFCCCA.   Both Leather and Sandusky should be competitors for these awards as both have improved significantly throughout the season and run well against strong competition.
