CINCINNATI, OH --The Cincinnati volleyball team racked up 52 kills on the way to a 3-0 victory (25-22, 25-23, 25-15) against the East Carolina Pirates Wednesday at home at Fifth Third Arena.
The win boosted the Bearcats' record to 18-9 overall and 13-6 in AAC action.
The Bearcats attack was paced by Abby Walker, who finished with 13 kills on the day while accumulating a hitting percentage of .435, and by Sarah Norcom, who had 12 while hitting .500. UC got eight digs from Emme Madden to lead them defensively. Maria Mallon had three aces today which puts her in a tie for 7th-most in school history (114).

» Abby Walker had a match-high 13 kills for Cincinnati and also contributed with three digs.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Bearcats persevered in a back-and-forth first set to win 25-22 in a stanza that featured four lead changes and was tied 11 times. Neither team led by more than four points in the match. The Bearcats opening set win came in a stanza where 20 of their 25 points came via the kill.
SET 2 | Cincinnati carried momentum from a set-one win by securing a 25-23 victory in set two. The Bearcats grabbed control of the set lead early on at 5-4 and never looked back. Cincinnati led by as many as seven points at 17-10 before finishing off the set, collecting 19 kills along the way. The Cincinnati offense also got a boost from three aces in the set.
SET 3 | Cincinnati took the third set to earn a victory by sweep. The Bearcats took control of the set early when the score was 6-5 and never looked back to win 25-15. Cincinnati ended on a strong note, opening up its biggest lead of the stanza, 10 points, to close out the set.
