Bearcats Sweep Temple, Finish Regular Season 19-9

PHILADELPHIA, PA --The Cincinnati volleyball team earned a three-set sweep (25-14, 25-19, 25-13) against the Temple Owls Friday on the road at McGonigle Hall.

PHILADELPHIA, PA --The Cincinnati volleyball team earned a three-set sweep (25-14, 25-19, 25-13) against the Temple Owls Friday on the road at McGonigle Hall.

This was the final game of the regular season for the Bearcats. Their final record is 19-9 overall and 14-6 in AAC action.

Abby Walker finished with 11 kills on the day to lead the Bearcats offense while finishing with a hitting percentage of .556. Defensively, UC had two players reach double figures in digs as Emme Madden had 15 and Payton Frederick had 12. 

Game Notes
» Molly Harrison had a match-high three aces in the win.
» Sarah Norcom had nine kills, good for second-most on the team. She also had a .333 hitting percentage today. 
» Adria Oliver, Madison Waters, Kailea Carrier and Emme Madden each had two blocks on the day. 
» Abby Walker had a match-high 11 kills for Cincinnati. She had a .556 hitting percentage, best on the team. 
» Cincinnati got a match-high 15 digs and match-high 30 assists from Madden.
» Cincinnati began the game with a 14-2 run in set one. The Bearcats also had a 12-1 run in the third set. 
» The Bearcats ended the regular-season with four straight wins. This is also the first time all year they swept two opponents in a row.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Bearcats grabbed control on the first point and started out the game on a 14-2 run. They won the first set 25-14. Cincinnati led by 12 points at 14-2 before closing out the set, collecting 15 kills in the process. UC got a solid defensive performance from a front row that blocked five Temple attacks in the stanza.

SET 2 | After their win in the first set, Cincinnati put themselves on the cusp of a sweep with a 25-19 victory in set number two. The Bearcats never trailed by more than five points and grabbed the advantage for good at 8-7 in a set that had just one lead change before Cincinnati took over the lead.

SET 3 | Cincinnati then capped the three-set sweep with a victory in set number three. The Bearcats took control of the set early then went on a 12-1 run for a 20-7 lead. The Cincinnati offense also got a boost from five aces in the stanza.
 

NEXT UP
The NCAA D-I Women's Volleyball Selection Show will take place on Sunday, Nov. 28 at 8:30 p.m. ET on ESPNU. If the Bearcats are announced as one of the 64 teams chosen, they will play a first round game on Dec. 2.
