CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's basketball head coach Michelle Clark-Heard announced the addition of Maya Wynn to the staff for the 2021-22 season as the special assistant to the Head Coach.

Wynn joins the Bearcats after spending one season as an assistant coach for the women's basketball program at Loyola University Maryland.

"I am excited to announce the addition of Maya Wynn to my staff," said Coach Michelle Clark-Heard. "Maya has experience as a successful NCAA Division-I student-athlete and knows what it takes to win championships. She also has been in leadership and mentoring positions, both as a student-athlete and a young professional. I am looking forward to her being another positive resource and mentor to our players and helping me further the vision of this program as we compete for championships."

Prior to Loyola, she spent a year and a half as an assistant at Albright College, a Division III school in Reading, Pennsylvania. While there, she helped the Lions improve their win total by 10 games during the 2019-20 season, as they finished the year 22-6 and earned an at-large spot in the NCAA DIII tournament.

At Albright, Wynn was responsible for recruiting, player development, film breakdown and generating scouting reports. She coached Albright's third-ever WBCA All-American in Dejah Terrell, as well as 2020 MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Year Gabby Boggs. The Lions, who began last season 15-0, were ranked as high as No. 10 in the WBCA DIII Top 25 national poll.

"I am extremely excited for the opportunity to learn and work under the leadership of Coach Heard," Wynn said. "I look forward to stepping in to help the entire staff as well as the players reach their goals. I am proud to be part of the Bearcat family!"

A Reisterstown native, Wynn is a 2018 graduate of Saint Francis University. She was a four-year starter for the Red Flash, contributing to a squad which won 24 games and advanced to the NCAA Tournament as Northeast Conference champions during her senior season. Wynn ranks fifth all-time at SFU in 3-pointers made (196), and was tied for third in the conference with 66 made 3's as a sophomore. She totaled 927 points and 167 steals at the collegiate level, earning a spot on the NEC All-Rookie Team in 2015.

As an undergrad, Wynn participated in both the Flash Focus Leadership Program and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. She remained at Saint Francis for one year after graduation, serving as a graduate assistant in the athletic department.

Wynn was a three-sport athlete in high school at McDonogh, lettering in basketball, volleyball and track & field. She was a two-year team captain for the basketball team, leading the squad to a pair of IAAM A-Conference championships.

An honor roll student, Wynn graduated from Saint Francis with a bachelor's degree in accounting. She is working towards a master's degree in education at Albright.
