CINCINNATI -- The University of Cincinnati athletics department is proud to recognize its teams and individual student-athletes for their numerous academic achievements in Fall 2021.
The department posted a 3.387 overall GPA, its eighth-straight semester with a 3.3 or higher. Seventy-four student-athletes earned TopCat honors (4.0 GPA), 242 more made the Dean's List (58 percent) and 328 (78 percent) earned Honor Roll accolades for posting a 3.0.
"We are very proud of our student-athletes and their fall academic achievements," Joe Luckey, Executive Senior Associate AD for Student-Athlete Support Services, said. "As excited as everyone was to return to a 'normal' fall semester, it was an adjustment for many of our student-athletes and their daily routines. The consistency of our student-athlete success, the support from our coaches, and the work of SASS staff is amazing. Congrats to Coach Scott Googins and our new men's basketball coach Wes Miller as each of their teams set all-time semester GPA records."
All 16 teams posted a 3.0-or-higher team GPA, with men's basketball and baseball earning their highest-ever. Tennis earned the women's crown with a 3.876 mark, with cross country pacing the men's side (3.542). Eight teams had at least a 3.5, while four others were above a 3.4.
"This is a great accomplishment for our baseball program and I couldn't be more proud of the way our guys have worked in the classroom and on the field this past fall," Googins said. "I'd like to thank Bridget VanLandeghem and all of our academic support staff for all the support they provide for our student-athletes."
