WBB Travels to Houston for Mid-Week Matchup

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team travels south to Houston to face-off against the Cougars on Sunday, January 19 at 8 p.m. ET in the Fertitta Center.

THE SERIES
Cincinnati leads the overall series 22-7 and 9-2 at Houston.

Last time out, IImar'I Thomas poured in 30 points and six assists while Caitlyn Wilson hit four 3-pointers for 12 points as Cincinnati  won its third consecutive game with a 65-57 victory over Houston at the Fertitta Center. Jillian Hayes finished with six points, seven rebounds, six assists, three blocks and three steals for the Bearcats

SCOUTING THE BEARCATS 
The Bearcats are 7-9 overall and 0-4 in American Athletic Conference play. The Bearcats head to Houston looking for their first AAC win and to break the current five-game losing streak.

Junior point guard Akira Levy ranks second in the conference and 19th in the nation in assists (89) and 25th in the nation with assists per game (5.6).  She is second in the conference and 48th in the nation in steals (37), first in the conference and 46th in the nation with free throws made (60) and first in the conference and 40th in the nation in free throw percentage (.857). Levy leads the team in points (206), points per game (12.9), free throws made (60), assists (89) and steals (37).

Sophomore guard Jillian Hayes leads the team in field goals a game (11.1), rebounds (112) and blocks (24) while junior forward Caitlyn Wilson leads the team in three-point shots (27) and three-point shots a game (1.7).

SCOUTING THE COUGARS
Houston comes into the game 9-8 overall and 2-3 in conference play. The Cougars are 6-1 when playing at home. 

Last time out, the Cougars fell to Tulane 64-59. Laila Blair led the Cougars (9-8, 2-3) with 13 points to go with four rebounds and three steals. Britney Onyeje closely followed with 12 points and Tiara Young added 10.

Blair leads the team in points, averaging 12.8 a game and 35 made three point shots.

In the American Conference the Cougars currently rank second in five different categories highlighted by three-pointers made (108), three-pointers per game (7.2), three-point field goal percentage (34.8) and three-point defense (28.0).
