Bearcats Host Xavier University on Senior Day

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati swimming and diving teams are in action for the first time in 2022 when they host crosstown rivals Xavier University on Friday at 1 p.m. at the Keating Aquatics Center.

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati swimming and diving teams are in action for the first time in 2022 when they host crosstown rivals Xavier University on Friday at 1 p.m. at the Keating Aquatics Center.
 
The meet gets underway at 1 p.m. with the dive teams followed by the swim teams at 3 p.m.
 
The Bearcats will honor their nine graduating seniors with a ceremony in-between the two events starting at 2:30 p.m. You can watch the senior ceremony via Facebook Live.
 
The meet is free and open to the public thanks to Experience UC.
 
Masks are required to be worn at all times regardless of vaccination status while indoors.
 
LAST TIME AGAINST XAVIER
The University of Cincinnati swimming and diving squads swept the Musketeers last time they faced on January 29th, 2021, at Keating Aquatics Center.
 
The men won with a score of 146-106 and the women cruised to a 153-94 victory.
 
SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
Both University of Cincinnati swim and dive teams fell to hosts Indiana in its last meet of the fall season.
 
The men's team lost 163-122 and the women's team lost 163-121.
 
Erin Shema recorded a new personal record in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:49.25 and was part of the 400-yard freestyle relay team with Maddie Exton, Jessica Davis and Kaylee Nagel who won a time of 3:27.91.
 
Nagel would go on to finish third in the 50-yard and in the 100-yard freestyle and Exton would add second-place finishes in both events.
 
Freshman Annabelle Young broke a personal record and took second place in the women's 100-yard breaststroke event with a time of 1:03.14.
 
Sophomore Hunter Gubeno won the 200-yard backstroke event with a final time of 1:47.25.
 
Junior Michael Balcerak finished first in the men's 100-yard butterfly, finishing with a time of 48.34.
 
SCOUTING XAVIER
The Musketeers' swim teams last raced from November 18th to November 20th at the Magnus Cup at Cleveland State.
 
The women's team finished fourth out of 11 teams with a score of 754 and the men claimed the second spot out of seven teams with a 1332.5 final score.
