CINCINNATI – Cincinnati football head coach Luke Fickell announced the addition of transfer offensive lineman Dartanyan Tinsley on Tuesday.
Tinsley joins the Bearcats after spending the last three seasons at Kentucky Christian University in Grayson, Ky.
The 6-5, 315-pounder collected First Team All-National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) honors in 2020-21 and grabbed First Team All-Mid-South Conference Appalachian Division accolades in back-to-back seasons (2020-21).
"We are excited to welcome Dartanyan Tinsley to our Cincinnati football family," Fickell said. "Dartanyan has the size, athleticism and competitiveness to make an impact here at UC. More importantly, he's an all-around great young man. He has several ties to Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, so it was a natural fit for him to join our program. I'm looking forward to watching him work with Coach Cummings and seeing him practice this spring. He can be a great player for us."
Tinsley, who spent his early years in Covington, Ky., also earned Mid-South Conference Appalachian Division Football Academic All-Conference honors in 2021.
He paved the way for the Knights' offense to rank as one of the NAIA's best during the 2020-21 season (moved from the fall to the spring due to COVID-19 protocols). KCU finished 6-2 and ranked third in the nation in total offense (3,324), third in scoring (256) and third in rushing yards (1,852).
A star at Owensboro (Ky.) High School, where he graduated in 2019, Tinsley was selected to play in the annual Best of the Bluegrass All-Star Football Game in 2019. The all-star game matched up the top players in the state of Kentucky.
