THE SERIES
USF leads the overall series 21-16 with the Bulls having the advantage in Tampa 11-6.
Last time out, the Bearcats fell to then-No. 24 South Florida 61-46. Caitlyn Wilson had a team-high 12 points on four three-pointers along with her four rebounds while Jillian Hayes shot 50% from the floor en route to her 11 points. The Bearcats held their opponents to 39.3% from the field and forced 16 turnovers.
SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
The Bearcats are 10-13 overall and 3-8 in American Athletic Conference play. Last time out, the Bearcats fell to Tulane University, 80-56, on Sunday afternoon at the Devlin Fieldhouse. Sophomore guard Jillian Hayes led the team with 21 points, shooting 9-for-10 from the free throw line, and added five rebounds, three steals and two assists. Freshman wing Emerita Mashaire had a career performance, recording a new season and career-high 19 points off of five three-point shots. The Bearcats shot 92% from the free throw line and 44% in three-point shots, however Tulane shot 50% from the field compared to UC's 29%.
Sophomore guard Jillian Hayes leads the team in points (282), points per game (12.3), field goals made a game (4.1), free throws made (92), rebounds (163) and blocks (32). Junior forward Caitlyn Wilson leads the team in three point shots (49) and three point shots a game (2.1). while junior point guard Akira Levy leads in assists (118) and is tied in steals with Hayes with 51.
Cincinnati is second in the AAC and is 20th in the NCAA in blocked shots with 116, and leads the conference averaging 5.0 a game.
SCOUTING THE BULLSUSF fell to 17-7 overall and 7-3 in conference play following a 54-33 loss to UCF on Sunday. Elena Tsineke led the way for the Bulls with 10 points while Shae Leverett grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds. USF's 33 points are the fewest since scoring 38 against UConn in a 79-38 loss in the semifinals of the American Athletic Conference tournament on March 3, 2020.
Last time the Bulls and the Bearcats faced each other on Jan. 5, Elena Tsineke scored 21 points and Bethy Mununga recorded a double-double in the 61-46 win over UC.
The Bulls are in the top five in the AAC in several statistical categories: 2nd in assists with 337, third in rebounds (931), assist to turnover ratio (1.04) and free throw percentage (73.9).
Elena Tsineke leads the team in points (336), averaging 14.6 per game, while Sydni Harvey leads the team in 3-point field goals made with 38. Defensively, Bethy Mununga leads the team in blocks with 25 and steals with 30.
