DALLAS – The University of Cincinnati swimming and diving teams put together a strong performance on Friday at Day 3 of the AAC Championships.
Day 3 of Finals featured the women's and men's 400-yard IM and 400-yard medley relay, 200-yard freestyle, the 100-yard butterfly, 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard backstroke and the men's three-meter diving finals.
The women's team, currently in fourth, have scored 182 points while the men are sitting on 328 points, trailing SMU.
TOP RESULTS
The Bearcats took down an AAC Championship and beat a school record by two seconds in the 400-medley relay when senior Blake Hanna, graduate student Dominic Polling, junior Michael Balcerak and sophomore Hunter Gubeno finished with a time of 3:08.56.
Balcerak was back to his winning ways on Friday with a 1:35.51 in the 200-yard freestyle which puts him second in school history behind his own record.
Two school records were taken down in the men's 400-yard IM by junior Spencer Sehlhorst (3:47.10) and in the women's 400-yard IM by senior Camryn Streid (4:13.63), which was held by her since 2019.
FINISHES OF NOTE
Freshman Will Claus, freshman Joey Basha, junior Luke Cheetham and freshman Connor Brauch all advanced out of the prelims finished fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth in the three-meter dive finals.
Sophomore Erin Shema broke her own personal record and came in third in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 54.64.
In the men's 100-yard backstroke, Gubeno came in second with a 47.68 which set a new personal best for the Howell, Michigan, native.
Polling was clutch and touched the wall with a 53.47 in the 100-yard breaststroke which gave him a well-deserved second place.
Sophomore Thomas Eaton hit a new personal-best in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 47.62.
UP NEXT
The AAC Championships concluded on Saturday with the final preliminary rounds scheduled for 11 a.m. ET.
