CINCINNATI -- The University of Cincinnati men's golf team will commence its spring campaign Monday with the two-day Coral Creek Club Invitational.
The action will be at the par-71, 7,143-yard course, featuring UCF, Florida Gulf Coast, Illinois State, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, No. 40 Kent State, Liberty, Lipscomb, Memphis, North Florida, North Texas, South Alabama, No. 28 South Florida, No. 17 Texas A&M and Toledo.
Clay Amlung, Ty Gingerich, Sam Jean, Mason Lenhart and Joey McCarthy make up the Bearcats' field.
Jean led UC in the fall with a 71.07 stroke average, including six sub-70 rounds out of five tournaments, while earning September Golfer of the Month honors from the AAC. He also had three top-five finishes, including second at the Steelwood Collegiate Invite to close the fall. McCarthy, who qualified for the Mackenzie Tour earlier this month, was second with a 72.20.
Mason Lenhart also finished the last semester with a 1-under 71, including his two lowest rounds of the season, while finishing 16th to match his career-best from his freshman year.
As a team, the Bearcats had finishes of first, third and fifth place and will look to find that form again. Only one of their five fall tournaments were three-day ventures.
