Leather Prepares for National Championship Meet, Currently Ranked 13th in the Mile

Senior Ellie Leather will travel to Birmingham, Ala. this weekend to compete in the 2022 NCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championship Meet.

CINCINNATI – Senior Ellie Leather will travel to Birmingham, Ala. this weekend to compete in the 2022 NCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championship Meet. The meet will take place at the Birmingham Crossplex from Friday to Saturday. Leather will be running in the mile run. 
 
// MEET SCHEDULE
Competition begins on Friday at 11:00 a.m. EST with the men's heptathlon. Leather is scheduled to run in the mile semifinal round on Friday at 8:00 p.m. EST. On Saturday morning the meet will resume at 11:30 a.m. EST with the rest of the men's heptathlon. The final of the mile run will take place on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. EST. The meet will be livestreamed on ESPN3 starting at 11:00 a.m. EST on Friday and 11:30 EST on Saturday.

Leather last competed at the AAC Indoor Championship meet where she took home three gold medals in the mile run, 800m run and distance medley relay. She broke her old school record in the mile run twice this season, setting the new mark at 4:34.89. 
 
Leather finished in 12th last year in the mile at the NCAA Indoor Championship. She is hoping for a top-eight finish this year to earn first-team All American honors.
