HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 1-0, the Bearcats first put a run on the board in the second inning. Cincinnati tied the game thanks to Harting's RBI double with two outs.

The Spartans then scored three runs to retake their advantage heading into the fourth inning, when the Bearcats responded by getting back on the scoreboard themselves. Cincinnati pushed two runs across on a two-run double off the bat of Powell that brought home Harting and redshirt senior infielder Dondrae Bremner, which brought the score to 4-3 in favor of the Spartans.

Cincinnati held the Spartans off the board before rallying to snatch a 7-4 lead in the fifth. The Bearcats bats heated up in the inning, scoring four runs, including a three-run home run off the bat of Guidry.

Cincinnati held the Spartans without a run before building on their lead in the seventh inning. The Bearcats picked up a run on Harting's two-out solo homer off sophomore Dominic Hann, bringing the Cincinnati advantage to 8-4. The Bearcats were unable to hold the lead, as Michigan State scored six times over the remaining two innings to grab the 10-8 win.
