Bearcats Sweep Bellarmine in First Match Saturday

CINCINNATI -- The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team secured its seventh-straight win against Bellarmine at the Western Athletic Club Saturday. The Bearcats improved to 8-3 while the Knights dropped to 1-12.

CINCINNATI -- The University of Cincinnati women's tennis team secured its seventh-straight win against Bellarmine at the Western Athletic Club Saturday. The Bearcats improved to 8-3 while the Knights dropped to 1-12.

The Bearcats got the match started by sweeping the doubles point. The freshman duo of Callie Flanagan and Elizabeth Pendergast were able to win, 6-1, on court two, to get the day started.  

Shortly after, redshirt sophomore Kelli Niehaus and redshirt junior Maria Santilli won, 6-1, on court three to secure the doubles point for the Bearcats.

Redshirt senior Ioana Guna won her singles match 6-2, 6-2, while Santilli also won her match 6-0, 6-2, giving the Bearcats a 3-0 lead on the day.

Redshirt senior Emma Miceli would clinch her singles match, 6-3, 6-1, to secure the 4-0 victory for UC.  

Next Up 
The Bearcats will host Holy Cross (Ind.) at 6 p.m. on Saturday in the second match of the doubleheader.
