DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Katie Hallinan finished second, one stroke from the title, while Sadie Pan came in fifth to highlight a fourth-place finish for the Cincinnati women's golf team at the Babs Steffens Invitational.

"I'm very proud of the team this week," head coach Janet Carl said. "They fought hard and accomplished their goal today while moving up the leaderboard. All of our winter work is looking like it is coming forth."

Cincinnati's final-round 300 and overall-914 were both its lowest of the season, shaving off strokes each round of the weekend. Hallinan's 71 in Monday's final was UC's second-lowest for the entire season and came after a 76 and 74 in the previous rounds. The 5-over 221 was two off her season-low, a fourth-place finish at the Mercer Invitational to close the fall. Pan's 6-over 222 was her best score of the season and second top-five finish.

Makenna Jones' career-low 73 also came as an 11-stroke improvement from her second round and the team's third-lowest for the week. Natalia Sompolvorachai, competing individually, also cut 10 strokes for her tourney-best

"We had three key performances today," Carl said. "Katie posted a great under-par round to secure second. Her three-day total was her best this spring. Sadie secured a fifth-place finish. Makenna Jones had her all-time low for the Bearcats. I am proud of the whole group as they worked very hard and are really starting to learn some key things as we head into conference."

The Bearcats have one more tournament before the AAC Championships: the EKU Colonel Classic (Richmond, Ky.) next Monday-Tuesday.
