Leather Earns AAC Women’s Track Athlete of the Week Honor

After her record-breaking 1,500-meter run at this past weekend's Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C., senior Ellie Leather has been named the American Athletic Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week.

CINCINNATI – After her record-breaking 1,500-meter run at this past weekend's Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C., senior Ellie Leather has been named the American Athletic Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week.  
 
Leather set a new school record in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:14.14, beating her own previous record by 2.6 seconds. She is currently ranked first in the AAC and third in the nation in the 1,500-meter run. She is hopeful to continue to improve upon her time to have a chance at a national title in the event in June.
 
NEXT UP FOR ELLIE LEATHER
Leather will compete this weekend at UC's only home track meet of the year, the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational. She is expected to run in the distance races and will be honored during the senior recognition at the meet.
