BLUFFTON, S.C. -- The Cincinnati men's golf team soared into second-place at the loaded Colleton River Collegiate thanks to a school-record 8-under 64 by Clay Amlung and 270 by the team on Tuesday.

Amlung tallied seven birdies and his second eagle in the final round, with his 64 matching Chad Howard at the 2015 Fossum Memorial. It also tied for the lowest round in AAC history.

The team's 270 beat the previous school record by five strokes (2013 Cleveland State Invitational). UC jumped four spots on the day on the heels of five the previous tournament. This tournament saw the Bearcats defeat four top-50 teams, among others, after also vanquishing No. 28 Michigan State in a stroke-play event over the weekend.

"I'm really proud of this group," head coach Doug Martin said. "They continue working hard and preparing at a level that's required to play at this stage. Our execution continues to get better with each round we play this spring. The conditions were great today and we took advantage early in the round and just continued putting pressure on the course the entire round.

"Sam, Ty and Clay all played great this week. I am excited to see where we can take this group. We're back home for three days and then back on the road to get after it again."

Every Bearcat saved their best round for last, all under par, with Sam Jean and Ty Gingerich also carding 68s. Jean added seven birdies as well. It marked each of the trio's (including Amlung) best 54-hole totals of the year.

Cincinnati returns to action March 18-20 for the Schenkel Invitational in Statesboro, Ga.
