Director of Athletics John Cunningham announced on Tuesday that Mark Berger has been promoted to manage the University of Cincinnati Athletics' C-Club and will serve as the department's main point of contact for all former Bearcats student-athletes.

CINCINNATI – Director of Athletics John Cunningham announced on Tuesday that Mark Berger has been promoted to manage the University of Cincinnati Athletics' C-Club and will serve as the department's main point of contact for all former Bearcats student-athletes.
 
The C-Club is the official association of former UC letterwinners.
 
Berger's new title is Assistant Director of Athletics, Director of C-Club. He will spearhead efforts for Bearcats to maintain a lifelong relationship with Cincinnati Athletics.
 
Berger previously spent 10 seasons with the UC men's basketball team before ascending to his current role as the Assistant AD for Development.
 
"Mark will do an outstanding job leading our C-Club," Cunningham said. "He has worked closely with our athletics teams for more than 12 years and proven to be a tireless advocate for student-athletes during his time here. He's the perfect fit to help our athletic department maintain our relationships with our letterwinners. Mark will be a trusted resource for all former Bearcats."

As the Director of C-Club, Berger's responsibilities include gift generation, membership growth and overall operations of the C-Club as well as the coordination of C-Club events, development of the alumni database and execution of the James P. Kelly Athletics Hall of Fame. Additionally, Berger will remain involved in all facets of UCATS operations including major gifts, annual giving, stewardship and donor relations.

Berger graduated from UC in 2001 with a degree in criminal justice. He served as an assistant basketball coach at Mount Union (Ohio) and Grayson County College (Texas), and the associate head coach at Wilmington (Ohio). He was the head men's basketball coach at Western Texas College in 2006 and was an assistant at Presbyterian before joining the Cincinnati men's basketball staff in 2009-10, working as the video coordinator, director of student-athlete development, director of basketball operations and assistant to the head coach.
 
He and his wife, Carrie, have one son, Grayson.
