CINCINNATI -- The University of Cincinnati baseball team fell to Louisville in a high-scoring game Tuesday night in Louisville, Ky., 18-10. Cincinnati's record moves to 13-18 on the season.

Redshirt sophomore pitcher Zach Segal (0-2) started the game for the Bearcats and took the loss. Seven pitchers threw in the game for UC.

Even in a loss, the Cincinnati lineup continued to hit. Redshirt junior Griffin Merritt hit his 11th home run of the season, went 2-for-4 and scored three runs. Sophomore outfielder Cole Harting also went 2-for-4, as he drove in two runs for the Bearcats as well. Redshirt senior infielder Wyatt Stapp drove in three runs of his own while notching two hits and a walk.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Merritt put the Bearcats up in the second inning by launching a solo homer over the bleachers in left field and into the parking lot. Redshirt senior infielder Dondrae Bremner put the Bearcats up 2-0 after he put a home run of his own over the right field wall.

The Cardinals took over from there, scoring 11 unanswered runs to put them up 11-2 in the fourth inning. Despite the deficit, UC clawed all the way back to make it a 12-10 game in the sixth inning.

Redshirt sophomore outfielder JP Sponseller drove in a run right before Stapp drove in two of his own. Stapp would knock in another run after Harting drove in his second RBI of the game. After a little help from a Louisville passed ball, the Bearcats found themselves with two runs.

Unfortunately, Louisville would score six more runs to take the game.
