CINCINNATI -- The Cincinnati men's golf team is geared up for its biggest stage of the season in the AAC Championships, held this weekend in Brooksville, Fla.
The three-day event begins Friday at the par-72, 7,274-yard Southern Hills Golf Club, north of Tampa. Live scoring is available via Golfstat.com, as is final-round coverage on ESPN Plus.
This is the second-straight year of the tournament's site, with Cincinnati finishing third last season and nine strokes from the top. Sam Jean and Clay Amlung tied for second and fifth, respectively, while both that and Amlung's 5-under 211 remain career-bests. Joey McCarthy (19), Ty Gingerich (22) and Mason Lenhart (29) all had solid showings as well and make up this year's lineup as well.
That 2021 event also saw the team finish with a 13-under 275, the second-lowest round of the entire field and week. The Bearcats have finished fifth or better in five-straight AAC Championships.
All Bearcats in the field have carded a 60s round this season, led by Amlung's school-record 64 in the Colleton River Collegiate. Jean leads with nine.
Jean has been the team's top performer this season with a 71.43 stroke average. His 2-under 214 at the Hawkeye Invitational last weekend was his fifth top-10 finish, tying for sixth. Amlung also rebounded to improve his score in each round and is second at 72.83, while Gingerich follows at 72.96.
