CINCINNATI -- Cincinnati men's basketball head coach Wes Miller has signed the team's second transfer of the spring in Rob Phinisee, a four-year Indiana letterwinner.

Phinisee joins grad-transfer Kalu Ezikpe (Old Dominion) as spring additions, and both were team captains at their respective schools as well. The pair combine with returners David DeJulius and John Newman III as fifth-year players, and Phinisee also played under current UC assistant coach Mike Roberts as a sophomore and junior at Indiana, his two highest-scoring seasons.

Phinisee started 69 games over his career, including 29 as a freshman, averaging 6.5 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. His 2.02 career assist-turnover ratio would rank fourth in the AAC this season. This past year, he played 25 games despite injury, scoring a career-high 20 points on 4-for-7 deep shooting in a 68-65 win over No. 4 Purdue, including the go-ahead three-pointer with 17 seconds left. He finished with one turnover over his final seven games (115 minutes) as well.

He scored in double-figures 19 times against Big Ten opponents, including 18 in a win over No. 4 Iowa as a junior, 18 at Nebraska earlier that year and 17 at Illinois as a freshman. His 2.29 assist-turnover ratio as a freshman was the third-highest for a Hoosier since the 1996-97 season, with a career highlight coming on a deep, contested, buzzer-beating triple to beat Butler in Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Phinisee was ranked No. 99 and 109 by Rivals and 247Sports, respectively, as a prospect, finishing his Lafayette McCutcheon HS career with 2,023 points and an Indiana Mr. Basketball finalist.
