McCarthy's 68 came on the heels of his 69 on Saturday, his third and fourth 60s rounds of the season. He joined Mason Lenhart (Mason Rudolph Championship) and Sam Jean (Badger Invitational) as Bearcats to claim two sub-70s in a tournament.
Ty Gingerich got back down to a 1-under 71, tying for 11th, after a 69 and 72 to start. He was just one stroke off his third top-10 finish of the year.
Jean was 2-under on the day, joining McCarthy and Lenhart (74) as those to cut their score each round.
UC was third in last year's event, also saving its best round (275) for last, where Jean and Clay Amlung finished second and fifth, respectively, for All-Conference honors. SMU claimed this year's title by nine strokes with a 29-under 835.
