CINCINNATI -- Mason Lenhart and Joey McCarthy carded sub-70 rounds, and the Cincinnati men's golf team maintained a sixth-place finish in a loaded Mason Rudolph Championship.
Four of the five teams to rank ahead of UC are in the top-50 nationally, and the Bearcats were just one stroke behind Ohio State and three from Middle Tennessee for fourth.
Lenhart's 69 came on the heels of matching his season-low with a 68 on Saturday, finishing 12th. McCarthy's 67 was the team's lowest of the weekend and tied his career-low from the Kiawah Classic in November 2019, and he tied for 24th.
"You can't compete at the level we want without tremendous toughness," head coach Doug Martin said. "This was a complete team effort this week. We had a couple of guys that didn't have their best stuff, and we still competed hard! We just never stop battling. Being plus-8 in the last round showed me all I need to know about my team. Huge rounds from Joey and Mason today."
Vanderbilt, ranked third in the nation, claimed the title on its home course with a 46-under 806. McCarthy (34th), Sam Jean (45th) and Clay Amlung (61st) rounded out the scorecard.
The Bearcats return to action in two weeks for the two-day Hawkeye Classic in Iowa, their last outing until the AAC Championships.
