PHILADELPHIA -- Temple scored three goals over the final four minutes to take a 14-10 victory over the Cincinnati lacrosse team on Saturday afternoon.
Kylie Nause scored five goals on six shots, matching the school's single-season record of 12 hat tricks. She also had four goals on Monday against No. 10 Florida. Her 54 on the year place her just seven away from Monica Borzillo's record of 61 in 2019. It was Nause's fifth, five-goal game of the season, but her first in a defeat.
Elizabeth Murphy's 11th goal of the season pulled the Bearcats within 11-10 and 6:40 left. Temple was able to control the next three draws, despite UC holding a 16-11 margin for the day, to regain control. Cincinnati has also won the draw-control battle in four of its last five games.
UC trailed 4-2 in the first but tied it up after Nause and Anna Platou (her seventh goal) gave the team momentum late in the first and early in the second. The Owls' largest lead was 7-4 with 4:57 left in the first, and the Bearcats kept getting within 8-7, 9-8, 10-9 and 11-10.
Freshman goalie Sophie O'Brien collected a career-high 11 saves after accomplishing the feat with nine against Florida. Rookie Kylie Gioia (Broomall, Pa.) also scored for the fifth consecutive game in her homecoming. Ava Goeller scored twice for her 37th goals of the season, second to Nause.
Cincinnati will hit the road again for its next AAC challenge, Saturday at Old Dominion (12 p.m.).
