CINCINNATI -- The Cincinnati Bearcats had a tough day on Sunday, falling to the Memphis Tigers, 13-1, at UC Baseball Stadium in the series finale. Memphis ended up winning the series, taking two of three games.
Graduate pitcher Tristan Weaver (5-6) started and took the loss on the mound for Cincinnati (21-27, 10-11). Redshirt junior pitcher Jackson Murphy was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going two innings, surrendering one run on two hits, walking none and striking out two.
Redshirt senior infielder Wyatt Stapp led the way offensively for the Bearcats, going 2-for-3 in the ballgame.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bearcats were trailing 6-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. Cincinnati plated a run on a based-loaded walk by redshirt junior outfielder Griffin Merritt. The Bearcats were unable to get any closer, as Memphis added seven runs to their tally on the way to a 13-1 final.
GAME NOTES
- Cincinnati celebrated Senior Day pregame, honoring 12 players and one student manager.
- Stapp went 2-for-3. He's hitting .500 (7-14) over his past four games.
