CINCINNATI -- University of Cincinnati women's basketball head coach Michelle Clark-Heard has announced the signings of Mya Jackson (Seton Hall) and Dais'Ja Trotter (Rend Lake College) for the 2022-23 season.
Jackson, a Wilmington native, returns to Southwest Ohio following a standout three-year run at Seton Hall. She averaged 9.8 ppg, plus 59 starts for the Pirates, including a spot on the Big East All-Freshman Team in 2019-20. Jackson shot 39.4 percent from deep in her career, as well as 71 steals and a 73.1 percent clip from the foul line. She tallied seven games overall with 20-plus points and has been a multi-year selection to the league's All-Academic Team.
"Mya is a very talented guard and has a high basketball IQ," Heard said. "Offensively, she can get to the rim and finish plays. She has great range and can knock down three-point shots at a high percentage. Defensively, she is a competitor that fits our style so well. We are so excited to welcome her back home."
Jackson was a four-year team captain at Wilmington High School and named the MVP of the Ohio vs. Kentucky All-Star Game as a senior.
Trotter was named a Second-Team All-American last year by the NJCAA Division I Basketball Committee, helping RLC to one of its best records ever at 23-7 and 11-2 in the league. She is the program's all-time leading scorer with 1,474 career points, finishing this past season as the national leader in scoring (24.4 ppg), total points (733) and field goals (258-for-548).
"Dais'Ja is a prolific scorer who plays with passion," Heard said. "She will be a difficult matchup for opponents. Her work ethic and winning mentality is a direct reflection of the success she has had. She's a great competitor and an even better person than her basketball accolades. Her future is bright, and she is going to be fun to watch the next couple of seasons."
Trotter is a Louisville product, previously starring at Seneca High School where she had games of 60 points and 20 rebounds before moving on to Rend Lake in Ina, Ill.
