CLEARWATER, Fla. -- The University of Cincinnati baseball team's season came to an end with a 13-5 loss to Tulane Friday in the 2022 AAC Tournament.

Redshirt sophomore pitcher Alex Shea (0-4) got the ball to start for Cincinnati (24-31) and took the loss. Freshman pitcher Tommy O'Connor came out of the bullpen and struck out five batters across three innings.

In addition to his three hits, redshirt sophomore infielder Ryan Nicholson had a double, a home run, a walk and three RBIs to lead the Bearcats. Redshirt senior infielder Dondrae Bremner also went deep, going 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs. Sophomore outfielder Cole Harting also chipped in, putting together two hits in four trips to the plate while adding a walk.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Bearcats were trailing 9-0 in the fourth inning when they first put runs on the board. Cincinnati plated two runs when Nicholson left the yard with redshirt junior outfielder Griffin Merritt aboard.

The Bearcats kept the Green Wave off the board before narrowing the gap further in the sixth. Cincinnati scored twice on Bremner's two-run homer, which brought the score to 9-4 in favor of the Green Wave.

Tulane built its lead to 13-4 before the Cincinnati offense got back in action, reducing that lead to 13-5 in the ninth. The Bearcats picked up a run on Nicholson's one-out RBI double. The Bearcats were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
