TicketsBloomington, Ind. – The men's events at the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Championships concluded today with quarterfinals in the track events. Freshman Steven McElroy punched his ticket to Eugene, Ore. to run in the next round of the 400-meter dash.
UC ATHLETE PERFORMANCES
Steven McElroy – 400-meter Dash:
McElroy ran his second-best time of the season and scored an automatic qualifying spot in the NCAA Championship meet in Eugene with his time of 45.81. He placed third in his heat, which sent him automatically to the next round of competition. McElroy finished the day ranked ninth going into the NCAA Championship meet as the only freshman to qualify in the Eastern region.
NEXT UP
Day four of the NCAA East Regional Qualifying meet will take place tomorrow. Caisja Chandler and Ellie Leather will race in the NCAA quarterfinals of the 100- 200- and 1,500-meter races. Jane Sensibaugh (discus throw), Kennedy Marable and Anaya Dees (triple jump), Annika Kinley and Alyssa Matheny (high jump) will compete in the NCAA quarterfinals of their events as well.
