Five Bearcats to Compete at USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

Cincinnati's Annette Echikunwoke, Kennedy Marable, Steven McElroy, Annika Kinley and Nadia Collins will compete at USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, this week.

CINCINNATI, Ohio – Cincinnati's Annette Echikunwoke, Kennedy Marable, Steven McElroy, Annika Kinley and Nadia Collins will compete at USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, this week.
 
Echikunwoke won the NCAA title for UC in the weight throw in 2017 and qualified to represent Nigeria in the 2020 Summer Olympics. She will represent the United States in the hammer throw for the first time on Thursday at the 2022 Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships.
 
Marable will join Echikunwoke at the USATF Outdoor Championships, while McElroy (400 meters), Kinley (high jump) and Collins (long jump) will participate in the USATF U20 Outdoor Championships.
 
All four Bearcats will look to finish in the top two to qualify for Team USA and advance to the 2022 World Athletics Championships or the U20 World Championships. McElroy will have an opportunity to qualify for the 4x400m relay in addition to the individual 400, as well.

Echikunwoke // hammer throw // USATF Outdoor Championships // Thursday, 5 p.m. PT
Echikunwoke was UC track and field's first national champion when she captured the 2017 NCAA indoor weight throw. She finished her career in 2018 and has continued to compete professionally, representing Nigeria. She will compete for the United States for the first time on Thursday at 5 p.m. in the hammer throw.
 
McElroy // 400 // USATF U20 Outdoor Championships // Friday, 2:47 p.m. PT
McElroy, just a freshman, set the UC record (45.57) and won the American in the indoor and outdoor 400. He competed at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon, advancing to the semifinals and finishing 19th overall. He has the top time of any participant in the U20 400 field.
 
The first round of the 400m will be on Friday at 2:47 p.m. with the final scheduled for 4:25 p.m. on Saturday.
 
Collins // Long Jump // USATF U20 Outdoor Championships // Friday, 3:30 p.m. PT
Collins's best leap is 6.10m (20-00.25) when she won the Tennessee Relays in 2022. She qualified for the NCAA Championships East Preliminary Round. She ranks seventh in the field.
 
The long jump final is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
 
Marable // Triple Jump // USATF Outdoor Championships // Saturday, 12:30 p.m. PT
Marable captured the 2022 American championship in the triple jump with a leap of 13.12 meters (43-00.5). She has a personal-best mark of 13.19m (43-03.25), which ranks 12th-best in the field.
 
Kinley // High Jump // USATF U20 Outdoor Championships // Saturday, 4:15 p.m. PT
Kinley won the American Indoor Track & Field Championships in the high jump in 2022 and has a personal-best leap of 1.78 m (5-09.25). She ranks sixth in the field.
 
The women's high jump final is scheduled for 4:15 p.m. on Saturday.
