EUGENE, Ore. – University of Cincinnati track and field alumna Annette Echikunwoke recorded a mark of 72.60 meters (238-2) in the women's hammer throw qualification round at the World Athletic Championships Oregon22 on Thursday.
On her second attempt, Echikunwoke posted the fifth-best throw of the field to advance to the finals for Team USA at 2:35 p.m. ET on Sunday. Live coverage of the finals will be aired on Peacock and NBC Networks from 9 a.m. ET to 11 p.m. ET.
Held for the first time in the United States, the World Athletics Championships Oregon22 features over 1,900 athletes from 192 teams, including 37 defending world champions. The meet will span ten days from July 15-24 at the historic Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon.
