CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati women's tennis sophomore Elizabeth Pendergast is set to compete in the Western and Southern Open this Sunday, Aug. 14 at the Linder Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio.
Pendergast will participate in the inaugural College Tennis Showcase that features student-athletes from programs such as Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame and Xavier. The matches will start at 3 p.m. ET on the Porsche Court.
Founded in 1899, the Western and Southern Open is an ATP Masters 1000 and a WTA 1000 tournament that welcomes nearly 200,000 fans from all 50 states and more than 35 countries and is watched by more than 50 million global viewers in over 160 countries. The tournament serves as one of the last stops on the US Open Series before the fourth and final Grand Slam.
Individual tickets for each session remain available and can be purchased through the attached link. The tournament will run from Saturday, Aug. 13 through Sunday, Aug. 21.
In her freshman season, Pendergast was named to the 2022 AAC All-Conference Team, becoming the first Bearcat to do so since Lauren Bellinger and Kelly Poggensee-Wei in 2017. The Cincinnati native helped lead the team to a 16-7 dual match record last spring, including a program-record 11 straight victories.
