The University of Cincinnati athletics department has announced a three-year partnership with Grippo's Chips, an iconic snack in the city's history.

CINCINNATI -- The University of Cincinnati athletics department has announced a three-year partnership with Grippo's Chips, an iconic snack in the city's history.

"Grippo's is extremely excited to be the Official Chip of UC Athletics," said Teri Baker, President of the Grippo Potato Chip Company. "We are proud to partner with this tradition-rich university that is continuing to reach new heights."

The brand's official chip status includes it being served in concessions campus-wide.

Grippo's is also the official chip of the Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Zoo.

"We are excited and thankful for Grippo's support," said John Cunningham, Cincinnati's Director of Athletics. "They are a Cincinnati food staple, and this partnership further symbolizes the community support our university and city proudly share. It also adds another feature to our continual investment in gameday enhancements."

Grippo's was founded in 1919 by Angelo Grippo in a one room office in downtown Cincinnati. Angelo started making ice cream cones and then in 1923, created the famous loop pretzel. In 1959, Grippo moved to the current location on Colerain Avenue. Grippo is the only family owned and operated snack food company in Cincinnati. Currently, 3rd,4th and 5th generations of the Grippo family are involved with the daily operations. Grippo distributes product in Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky.
