COLUMBIA, S.C – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team fell in three sets to South Carolina on Friday inside the Carolina Volleyball Center in Columbia, S.C.

COLUMBIA, S.C – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team fell in three sets to South Carolina on Friday inside the Carolina Volleyball Center in Columbia, S.C. 
 
The Bearcats (1-6) could not overcome a strong offensive showing by the Gamecocks. South Carolina finished with a hitting percentage of .314 (50-18-102) compared to UC's clip of .162 (37-20-105). 
 
Cincinnati was paced by freshman right side Avry Tatum, who finished with a career-high 12 kills at a .259 clip, and by freshman outside hitter Carly Glendinning, who had 10 kills while hitting a season-best .474. 
 
The Gamecocks totaled 14 blocks to limit the Bearcat attack. Cincinnati registered eight blocks in the loss, with five coming from redshirt senior Kailea Carrier. 
 
// HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 | Cincinnati fell behind early and trailed by as many as six points before cutting the deficit to one, 16-15. The Gamecocks then scored six of the final eight points to win the stanza, 25-19. 
 
SET 2 | The Bearcats dropped the second set despite a strong showing on the attacking end. Cincinnati registered a .375 hitting percentage with 19 kills and only four attacking errors on 40 attempts. Cincinnati fought off four set points in an incredible back-and-forth battle before South Carolina pulled out the win in extra points, 34-32. Glendinning registered seven of her 10 kills in the stanza. 
 
SET 3 | South Carolina finished the sweep with a third-set victory, 25-17. The Gamecocks jumped out to an early 6-1 lead, and the Bearcats were unable to recover. Cincinnati hit -.077 in the frame.
