COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team was swept by South Carolina on Saturday at the Carolina Volleyball Center in Columbia, S.C.
Freshman outside hitter Carly Glendinning was the only Bearcat to tally more than five kills in the match, finishing with nine at a .273 hitting percentage.
South Carolina hit .486 in the match with 41 kills and only five attacking errors on 74 attempts. The Bearcats struggled offensively, hitting just .168 (32-16-95). The Gamecocks also outblocked the Bearcats, nine to three.
// HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 | The Bearcats dropped the first set, 25-18, despite a solid showing on the attacking side. Cincinnati put together a .345 hitting percentage with 13 kills in the set loss.
SET 2 | The set was tied up three times in the early going before the Gamecocks went on a 12-0 run. The Bearcats were unable to recover, dropping the set 25-14.
SET 3 | Cincinnati dropped the first point and fought from behind the rest of the way before losing the third and final set, 25-14.
