NEW ORLEANS, La. – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team opened its American Athletic Conference slate with a four-set win over Tulane on Friday night at Avron B. Fogelman Arena in New Orleans, La.
 
The Bearcats (3-8, 1-0 AAC) hit a season-high .307 behind 47 assists from freshman setter Caroline Endres
 
Freshman Carly Glendinning led the Bearcat attack with a career-high 17 kills at a .300 hitting percentage. Sophomore Abby Walker notched 11 kills (.409), including the match-winner, while freshman Avry Tatum was the third Bearcat in double figures with 10 kills at a .269 clip.
 
Sophomore Shaye Eggleston came off the bench and contributed nine kills with only one attacking error for a .421 hitting percentage. Senior Payton Frederick steadied the Bearcats' backrow with a match-high 17 digs. 
 
// HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 | Cincinnati jumped out to an 8-4 advantage before Tulane rattled off four straight points. Tulane later went up 21-19 to force a UC timeout. The Bearcats responded out of the break to win the set on a Glendinning ace, 28-26. Cincinnati benefited from seven service errors by Tulane. 
 
SET 2 | The Bearcats once again took an early lead in the second set before Tulane used a 7-1 spurt to reclaim the advantage (12-9). The Green Wave maintained their lead for the remainder of the stanza, ending the set on a 6-0 run (25-16). 
 
SET 3 | After trailing 23-21, Cincinnati scored five of the final six points to win the third stanza, 26-24. Cincinnati hit .459 in the set behind 18 kills and only one attacking error on 37 attempts. Walker and Tatum each added five kills with no attacking errors. Frederick notched seven of her 17 digs on the defensive end.  
 
SET 4 | Cincinnati carried its momentum to the fourth and final set, winning the frame 25-21. The Bearcats took a three-point advantage at 20-17 and closed out the match on a Walker kill. Glendinning (6) and Eggleston (5) combined for 11 kills in the stanza.
