The University of Cincinnati cheerleading team captured its second national title on Friday in Orlando.

ORLANDO -- The University of Cincinnati cheerleading team captured its second national title on Friday, winning the Division 1A Gameday crown at the 2022 College Cheerleading & Dance National Championship at ESPN's Wide World of Sports Complex. 

The Bearcats kicked off the weekend for the spirit squads with their Gameday routine at the HP Fieldhouse at 3:49 p.m. on Friday in the semifinal round competing against 16 other teams. 
 
Finishing with a score of 93.3, UC moved on to the finals competing at 9:04 p.m. in the arena along with eight other teams. In the finals, Cincinnati's routine tallied a score of 97.2 out of 100 points to claim its first national championship since winning the Gameday title at the 2018 UCA Nationals. The Bearcats topped USF, Tennessee, Minnesota and Kentucky, among others. 
 
The squad wrapped up the weekend by competing in the Traditional Routine on Saturday.
