Baseball Travels to Ohio State for Fall Exhibition

CINCINNATI - The University of Cincinnati baseball team continues its 2022 fall baseball schedule with a 14-inning exhibition game at Ohio State on Sunday, Oct. 16.  First pitch in Columbus is set for 1 PM. 

The Bearcats and Buckeyes have met 99 times in the regular season dating back to April 26, 1919. Ohio State leads the all-time series, but Cincinnati has won four of the last five matchups dating back to 2017. The two programs played twice in 2022; the first a 5-4 Bearcats victory at UC Baseball Stadium on March 2, and the second a 5-3 loss in Columbus on May 17. 

Cincinnati returns a pair of 2022 All-American Athletic Conference selections in INF Ryan Nicholson and SP Conner Linn. The Bearcats roster also features 16 local products including standouts OF Cole Harting, INF JP Sponseller, LHP Alex Shea and RHP Jackson Murphy. Fans will also be able to get their first look at some of the new faces in the program, including 11 freshmen from the class of 2022 and six incoming transfers.

LAST TIME OUT
Eight Bearcats pitchers saw action in a 6-4 victory at Notre Dame on October 1st; allowing just 3 earned runs, striking out 11, and only allowing 5 walks over 14.0 IP. Cincinnati's offense was led by redshirt freshman CJ Dean, who drove in a pair of runs on a first-inning solo home run and a fifth-inning RBI single. True freshman Landyn Vidourek added an important late-game RBI single in the 11th frame to give the Bearcats their sixth and final run of the exhibition.
