CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati senior Maddie Walker was named American Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.

It marks the second time this season that she has garnered the honor. Walker is now the first Bearcat to earn the weekly conference award in back-to-back weeks.

"Maddie has been so consistent this season, women's cross country coach Sarah Anderson said. "She shows up and puts the work in day in and day out. At Bradley, we talked through a race plan and she executed it perfectly. She shows up with poise and confidence and I'm so proud of her for earning this honor for the second time this season"

She joins Alex Sandusky (2021) and Aaron Bienenfeld (2019) as the only Bearcats to be honored twice in the same season.

Walker was the top performer for Cincinnati at the Bradley Pink Classic on Oct. 14th. She dominated the 6K course, placing 18th overall with a personal best time of 20:44.1. Walker has now been the women's top scorer in every race this fall.

The Batavia, Ohio native led the UC women to a ninth-place team finish with 265 points out of the 38-team field.
