CINCINNATI – University of Cincinnati junior Hunter Gubeno was named American Athletic Conference Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.
This is the first time in his career has garnered the honor. He joins teammate Michael Balcerak as the only active Bearcats to earn the distinction and the only one this season.
Gubeno was dominant in his last outing, totaling 39 points for Cincinnati in a two-day dual with West Virginia in Morgantown, W. Va. The Howell, Mich. native competed in six events, tallying three wins in the 100-yard backstroke (49.24), 200-yard backstroke (1:46.35) and in the 200-yard individual medley.
With the trio of wins last week, Gubeno extends his event win total to seven this fall.
