TULSA, Okla. – The University of Cincinnati women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw at Tulsa on Thursday night.
With the tie, the Bearcats extend their unbeaten streak to four matches and are now 4-1-5, 0-0-2 AAC.
The opening half saw chances in the attacking third from both offenses as Vanessa DiNardo recorded a pair of shots on goal within the first nine minutes. The best scoring opportunity before break for the Bearcats came in the 26th minute when Brandi Thomsen lined up a shot from right inside the 18-yard frame that found its way through the backline before it was controlled by the goalkeeper.
Despite the Bearcats possessing the edge 8-5 in shots and 3-0 in corner kicks, the two teams headed to the locker room leveled at zero.
For the seventh match this season, Cincinnati was first on the scoreboard in the 46th minute. Lauren Bastian lifted a cross that was deflected by Thomsen and quickly found the feet of Paige Miller, who tucked a shot inside lower left post after only 31 seconds of action for her second goal of the season.
The goal at the 45:31 mark is the second fastest goal out of half recorded under head coach Neil Stafford after the Bearcats scored in 21 seconds out of the break in a 2-0 win over Murray State this season.
Tulsa found the equalizing in the 67th minute off their second penalty kick of the match.
Cincinnati finished the night outshooting Tulsa 15-12, including an 8-2 edge in shots on goal. The Bearcats remain undefeated this season at 4-0-3 when possessing the shot advantage.
Anna Rexford added a save to her total on only two shots faced in the match.
Cincinnati continues conference play when the Bearcats host to Temple on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 1 p.m. ET.
