CINCINNATI — Head coach Mandy Commons-DiSalle and the University of Cincinnati swimming and diving program announced the addition of 13 student-athletes in their 2023 signing class on Tuesday.
The Bearcats signed seven women and six men across nine different states, including four from the state of Ohio. The program also added one international student.
"I am excited to welcome our first freshmen class of our Big 12 team," Commons-DiSalle said. "We are looking forward to these athletes making a great impact for us in our new conference. They bring talent and enthusiasm that will continue to contribute to our outstanding team culture."

Hailing from Cedarburg, Wisc., she comes to Cincinnati as the 10th-ranked swimmer in the state. She competed on the club circuit for Ozaukee Aquatics while in high school, specializing in the individual medley and butterfly events.
// Julie Rose
A native of Allerød, Denmark, she comes to Cincinnati as the lone international signee. She will join seven other international students-athletes already on the team. She specializes in breaststroke, individual medley and freestyle events.
// Sonja Aarsvold
The freestyle specialist hails from Murrieta, Calif., and comes to Cincinnati as the 32nd-ranked swimmer in the state. During high school, she swam for both Murrieta Mesa High School and for her club team Riverside Aquatics Association. She is a two-time 100y free CIF-SS Division 3 champion.
// Peyton Powell
A native of Winter Garden, Fla., Powell specializes in the breaststroke event and joins the program as the 32nd-ranked swimmer in Florida. She attended Windermere High School, where she was runner-up at the 2021 FHSAA Florida 4A State Championships.
// Sophie Schuetze
Hailing from Grosse Pointe Park, Mich., she attended Grosse Pointe South High School and competed on the club circuit with the Grosse Pointe Gators. She comes to Cincinnati as the 21st-ranked swimmer in Michigan and specializes in the butterfly.
// Stella Brofford
A native of Columbus, Ohio, she attended Gahanna Lincoln High School. Ranking as the 27th swimmer in Ohio, Brofford specializes in the freestyle and boasts a personal-best 100-yard free time of 53.45.
// Lindi Worrell
Worrell hails from Mount Holly, N.J., where attended Rancocas Valley Regional High School and competed for MLY Phoenix YMCA. As the 35th-ranked swimmer in New Jersey, she specializes in the freestyle and breaststroke events.
// Levi Hansen
A native of Pittsburgh, Penn. Hansen swam for Cavalier Swim Club. Specializing in freestyle events, he comes to Cincinnati as the 14th-ranked swimmer in the state. He boasts a 100-yard personal-best time of 47.29.
// Owen Johanssen
Hailing from Hilliard, Ohio, he attended Hillard Davidson High School and also swam for United Swim Association. Johanssen comes to Cincinnati as the 18th-ranked swimmer in the state and specializes in breaststroke and individual medley events.
// Adam McCurdy
A native of Fort Wayne, Ind., he swam for the Fort Wayne Swim Team and attended Carroll High School. He ranks eighth in Indiana and specializes in the butterfly, breaststroke, and individual medley.
// Dean Sherrer
Hailing from Dublin, Ohio, Sherrer is the 13th-ranked swimmer in the state. Sherrer competed for both the Dublin Community Swim Team and Jerome High School. He specializes in the freestyle event with a personal-best of 4:32.93 in the 500-yard free.
// Alex Subotich
A native of Wesley Chapel, N.C., he comes to Cincinnati as the 23rd-ranked swimmer in North Carolina. Subotich swam for Life Time Swim Team and attended Weddington High School, specializing in the butterfly. He holds a personal-best time of 49.50 in the 100-yard butterfly.

Hailing from Avon Lake, Ohio, Swain is the 14th-ranked swimmer in the state. He competed for Lake Shore Swim Club and also attended Avon Lake High School, specializing in the backstroke and freestyle events.
