CINCINNATI— After a three-week training break, the University of Cincinnati swimming and diving is back in action this weekend at the Ohio State Fall Invitational.

"The team is looking great this week as we head into our midseason championship meet," head coach Mandy Commons-DiSalle said. "I am expecting some really fast swims and we have a shot at a few school records going down! The team seems really focused and looking forward to some great competition."

// LAST TIME AT THE OHIO STATE FALL INVITATIONAL
Last year the UC men's team placed seventh overall with 700 points, while the women placed ninth overall with 193 points. Bearcats recorded 16 top-20 finishes, including junior Hunter Gubeno's fourth-place finish in the 400-yard backstroke and senior Michael Balcerak's seventh-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly.

// LAST TIME OUT
Cincinnati is looking to maintain momentum from the last time the Bearcats were in action, back on Oct. 22, where the program faced West Virginia in a two-day dual meet in Morgantown, W. Va.

Both Bearcat teams swam well, collecting 12 event wins, but fell short to the Mountaineers. The men's team lost 179-174, while the women fell 237-110.

Junior Hunter Gubeno led the men's team with three event wins in the 100-yard backstroke, 200-yard backstroke and 200-yard individual medley.

"We put up a good fight racing this weekend and I am proud of our effort," Commons-DiSalle added. "The team responded well against our future Big 12 opponent and as we look at what's ahead, I think there are some positive takeaways to help us fine-tune our racing and be ready for our mid-season championship meet."
