CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team rolled to a 91-45 exhibition win over Wittenberg in Fifth Third Arena on Thursday.
"I was proud of our effort tonight," head coach Michelle Clark-Heard said. "We were able to put in different people and do different things on the floor late and that is something that we are really excited about."
The Bearcats had four players finish in double-figures, led by a game-high 17 points from Mya Jackson. Jillian Hayes added 15 points, in addition to 11 from Clarissa Craig and 10 from Dais'Ja Trotter.
Leading 15-10 at the end of the first quarter, Jackson poured in eight of the Bearcats' 23 second quarter points to command a 38-28 advantage heading into the break.
Cincinnati was dominant coming out of the half as the Bearcats used a 28-4 third quarter that was closed out by an and-one finish in traffic from Hayes to extend their lead to 36.
The lead grew to as many as 47 as the Bearcats shot 54 percent in the second half to cruise to the win. Cincinnati forced 29 turnovers, while shooting 54.5 percent from three-point range. The Bearcats outscored the Bulldogs in the paint, 54-14.
Cincinnati opens the regular season at No. 7 Louisville on Monday, Nov. 7 at 5 p.m.
