COLUMBUS, OHIO— The Cincinnati men's and women's swimming and diving teams had a historic weekend at the Ohio State Fall Invitational breaking three school records and recorded 37 Cincinnati top-10 times.

The UC men's 200-yard freestyle relay team (1:19.43), Joleigh Crye (1:00.21) in the women's 100-yard breaststroke and Grace Gavin (54.35) in the 100-yard backstroke each recorded UC record times.

"We have a really special team this year and their unity as a group has created an environment that is conducive to success, head coach Mandy Commons-DiSalle said. "As evident by our performances at this halfway point in the season, they are already rewriting the record books. We need to build off this weekend and go back to work to prepare for the second half of the year. I am really proud of this group of Bearcats and where they are going."

The Bearcats opened up the three-day invitational with the men's 200 yard free relay, where Michael Balcerak, Jet Fuhrmann, Drew Hawthorne and Hunter Gubeno broke the UC record by .55 seconds with a time of 1:19.43.

This would be an omen of what was to come as the Bearcats would go on to record 11 more top-10 times on the day. Including Gubeno moving from fourth to third in the 200-yard individual medley with a personal best time of 1:45.94. He also recorded the second-fastest 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:41.47.

Bearcats continued to rewrite UC history at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion, breaking two more school records and recording 13 top-10 times on day two.

Joleigh Crye had quite the meet as she swam the fastest 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.21) in UC history, breaking Helena Pikhartova's (1:01.05) nine-year-old record. The Avon, N.Y. native would also record the sixth-fastest 100-yard butterfly (53.91) in Bearcat history. In total she recorded five UC top-10 times

Crye, joined by Gavin, Ella Chown, and Kaylee Nagel, also recorded the second-fastest women's 200-yard medley relay (1:40.78) in UC history.

Grace Gavin also had a meet to remember as she broke the Cincinnati women's 100-yard backstroke record with a time of 54.35. In total Gavin recorded five Bearcat top-10 times throughout the meet.

On the final day of the meet, the Bearcats added 11 more UC top-10 times, including Lily Jones swimming the second-fastest 200-yard backstroke in UC history with a time of 1:57.56. Jones also swam the third-fastest 100-yard backstroke (54.52) earlier in the meet.

Ohio State won both the men's and women's team championships, while the UC men placed sixth with 934 points and the women placed 10th with 416 points.
