The University of Cincinnati volleyball team fell in four sets to Wichita State on Sunday afternoon in Wichita, Kan.

CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team fell in four sets to Wichita State on Sunday afternoon in Wichita, Kan.
 
The Bearcats move to 9-19 overall and 7-11 in the AAC with two conference matches remaining. 
 
Freshman Carly Glendinning registered a team-high 16 kills to go along with six digs. Sophomore Shaye Eggleston added 12 kills and eight digs.
 
Senior duo Madison Waters and Kailea Carrier shined defensively, posting six blocks apiece. They each added seven kills on the offensive end. 
 
Wichita State finished with a .348 hitting percentage while Cincinnati was held to just a .225 clip. The Shockers held the advantage in kills (61-50), digs (59-55) and blocks (11-9). 
 
// HOW IT HAPPENED 
SET 1 | Cincinnati used a timeout as Wichita State jumped out to a 5-1 lead. Another 3-0 run extended the Shockers' advantage to seven, 11-4. The Bearcats threatened with a 4-0 run, cutting their deficit to five at 21-16. The comeback attempt fell short as the Shockers scored the next four points, 25-16. Waters has four blocks and a kill in the opening stanza. 
 
SET 2 | Cincinnati got out to the early advantage in the second set, taking a 9-3 lead to force a WSU timeout. The run was highlighted by three blocks by Waters and Carrier. The Shockers pulled within four (10-6) before the Bearcats extended the lead back out to eight after three straight kills (16-8). Cincinnati fought off a final push by Wichita State to win the second set, 25-19. Glendinning recorded six kills at a .750 hitting percentage in the frame. 
 
SET 3 | Wichita State used a pair of scoring runs to own a four-point lead (13-9). Eggleston and Walker then notched back-to-back kills to end the scoring drought (13-11). The Bearcats pulled within four later in the set but the Shockers held on to win the frame, 25-18. Wichita State hit .387 in the stanza and held UC to a .083 clip.  
 
SET 4 | Waters recorded back-to-back kills to bring UC within two in the early going (9-7). Glendinning then notched two straight kills as the Bearcats begin to chip away at their deficit. Cincinnati tied up the set three times but failed to take the lead. Wichita State closed out the set on a 3-0 run to claim the stanza, 25-21.
