CINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati volleyball team will conclude its 2022 campaign at home with a pair of conference matches.
 
The Bearcats (9-19, 7-11 AAC) will host East Carolina on Friday (6 p.m.), followed by Temple on Saturday (4 p.m.).
 
Cincinnati will honor and celebrate its senior class on Saturday against Temple. First serve is schedule for 4 p.m. with an on-court senior recognition following the conclusion of the match.
 
Both matches will be broadcast nationally on ESPN+ and can be followed via live stats.
 
// WEEKEND REWIND
Cincinnati dominated past Tulsa in three sets on Friday afternoon in Tulsa, Okla. The Bearcats earned the season sweep of their third conference opponent this season, having swept the two-game series against Tulane and USF. 
 
Senior Payton Frederick recorded a match-high 16 digs in UC's sweep of Tulsa – the most by a Bearcat in a three-set match this season. She helped the Bearcats own a +13 advantage in total digs (58-45).
 
Redshirt senior Kailea Carrier averaged 1.29 blocks and 2.14 kills per set while hitting .324 (15-4-34) for the weekend. She put down eight kills with only one attacking error for a .467 clip against Tulsa. Freshman Carly Glendinning averaged 3.43 kills, 2.29 digs and 0.43 blocks per set over the two matches. She recorded a team-high 16 kills in UC's four-set loss to Wichita State on Sunday.

// LEAGUE LEADERS
Frederick ranks sixth in the AAC in digs per set (3.69) and is averaging 3.93 digs per set in league play. She has led the Bearcats in digs in all but five matches this season. Carrier's impressive play at the net has moved her into 10th in the conference in blocks per set with 0.93. She's averaging 1.46 blocks per set over the last seven matches. 
 
Sophomore Abby Walker continues to be efficient on the attacking end. She ranks ninth in the conference in hitting percentage (.298). Her best offensive showing came against Tulsa on Oct. 16 when she hit .522 with 13 kills and only one error on 23 attempts. 
 
In AAC play, Glendinning ranks eighth in kills per set (3.42) and 10th in points per set (3.70). She has posted 12 double-digit kill performances and has led the team in kills seven times during conference play. 
 
Freshman setter Caroline Endres sits fifth in the AAC in assists per set with 9.30. She made her return to the Bearcats' lineup on Nov. 4 against No. 23 Houston.
 
// SERIES HISTORY
Cincinnati is 12-11 all-time against Temple. The Bearcats are looking for their second consecutive season sweep of the Owls after winning in five sets on Oct. 7 in Philadelphia. The Bearcats went up 2-0 in the match before fighting off the reverse sweep bid by the Owls. Avry Tatum (22), Glendinning (16) and Walker (15) all finished with double-digit kills.
 
The Bearcats own a 19-4 advantage all-time against ECU. UC had won eight straight in the series before ECU defeated Cincinnati in five sets on Oct. 9 in Greenville. The Bearcats went up 2-1 in the match before the Pirates completed the comeback. Tatum (18k/14d), Eggleston (14k/17d) and Emme Madden (52ast/11d) notched double-doubles in the loss.
 
// SENIOR DAY
Cincinnati will honor and celebrate its five seniors on Saturday – Kailea Carrier, Kerstin Ficker, Payton Frederick, Maria Tobergte and Madison Waters.
 
Carrier has totaled 403 kills and 194 blocks in her career. She has been a dominant force at the net for the Bearcats this season, leading the team in total blocks with 98 and ranking in the top-10 in the conference in blocking.
 
A serving specialist, Ficker has tallied 74 aces in her four-year career as a Bearcat. She served the game-winning point to send the Bearcats to their first-ever Sweet Sixteen with a win over No. 2-ranked Pitt during UC's historic 2019 NCAA Tournament run.
 
Frederick has been a staple of the Bearcats' backrow for the past three years as the team's starting libero. She surpassed 1,000 career digs against Dayton earlier this season and has totaled 1,368 digs, 329 assists and 88 aces in her decorated career. 
 
Tobergte has played in 58 career matches, tallying 396 digs, 116 kills and 38 aces. She was a member of the 2019 NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen team who won the AAC regular season title. She has posted 16 double-digit dig performances, including a career-high 21 digs against Xavier last season.
 
Waters has appeared in 51 career matches for the Bearcats, recording 226 kills, 151 digs and 32 blocks. She was a member of the 2019 NCAA Sweet Sixteen Team who won the AAC regular season title. In 2021, she was named to the AAC weekly honor roll after strong performances against Tulane and Houston.
