TicketsCINCINNATI – The University of Cincinnati baseball team has released its 2023 schedule, sixth-year head coach Scott Googins announced on Tuesday.
The 55-game slate includes 24 contests against American Athletic Conference opponents and three opponents that made a NCAA Regional appearance last season.
The Bearcats begin the new season with seven straight games on the road, beginning with a four-game series against Georgia State on Feb. 17-19 in Atlanta, GA. Cincinnati will continue its season-opening road swing with a three-game series against Florida on Feb. 24-26 in Gainesville, FL. The Gators advanced to the NCAA Regional a season ago and finished with an overall record of 40-22.
The Bearcats return home for Opening Day on March 1 against Miami (OH), first pitch is scheduled for 5:02 PM at UC Baseball Stadium. The homestand continues with a four-game series against North Alabama on March 3-5.
UC then visits Eastern Kentucky on March 8, before traveling to Wofford on March 10-12 and Winthrop on March 14-15. Cincinnati caps off the road stint at USC Upstate where the Bearcats will play the host Spartans and Princeton on March 17-18 in Spartanburg, SC.
The Bearcats will play a midweek game at Xavier (March 22) before returning to Clifton for a three-game series against Butler (March 24-26) and single contest against Louisville (March 28).
Cincinnati opens its AAC slate at home against Wichita State (March 31-April 2). The Bearcats will also host conference foes Tulane (April 21-23), East Carolina (May 5-7) and UCF (May 12-14). The Bearcats' AAC road slate features series against Memphis (April 6-8), East Carolina (April 14-16), USF (April 28-30) and Houston (May 18-20).
The Joe Nuxhall Classic, an annual tournament which honors the legacy of the legendary Reds' player and announcer, will include a road game at Wright State on April 4, followed by a home contest against either Xavier or Miami (OH) on April 11. UC will also host midweek games against Indiana (April 19), Xavier (May 9) and Georgetown (May 16) during its AAC stretch.
The American Athletic Conference Tournament will return to Clearwater, FL (May 24-29) as the Bearcats look to make a post-season run at BayCare Ballpark, spring training home of the Philadelphia Phillies. Cincinnati won the event in 2019.
